While I wouldn’t necessarily call this a must have SHTF item, it’s sure nice to have in case your power goes out on one of those sweltering hot days, as this could easily be hooked up to a back up emergency solar system.

We like this version of other DIY air conditioners due to it’s sturdy design. This consists of a regular fan using only 29 watts of power, a coleman cooler, and a dryer vent.
Simply fill the cooler with frozen water bottles, and enjoy 50 degree air conditioning in a small room in your house for about 6 to 8 hours. This thing works great!!!
If you have alternative power (such as solar)… things you worry about is the electrical loads your running. Regular air conditioners use about 900 watts of power.
