Comments From A Senior Grandpa And Veteran About Survival

veteran

As a senior and veteran I am amused at people who think themselves prepared because they have a bag full of tools they have no clue how to use.

They have the appropriate dress in camo that is neatly pressed in the latest fashion. and you look down and see the designer basketball shoes and the bling that would instantly attract the thief to an easy score.

With the majority we can be assured survival wont occur in the middle of the woods. The people who live in the rural areas are more prepared than most to survive.

The ones they will need be concerned with are the ones from the city who will come in droves and destroy any chance of their survival and ruin the land and its ability to provide for others survival.

survival skills

The only thing I am sure of is that government is only prepared to serve the people by oppression only.

That is quite clear of the amount of arms and ammo purchased for to arm the various departments in government.

If evidence is needed at the inept abilities of government we need only look at the actions to help the people from the last two major storms in the US.

They had thousands of mobile homes that sat useless while people needed to seek shelter in a stadium and the only things to arrive were people that went door to door to confiscate the guns.

In New York state who was first on the seen the inspectors to take up notices of condemnation. It must be up to us to organize and the primary thought should be to notify the city and county that you will not put up with the gun confiscation.

They have other problems to solve and they need to be at it. Meanwhile to the individual if you think all the gear will save you then buy it for it will get heavy to carry and if it doesn’t provide food and water it is useless.

If you do not know how to use that gun you have you are more a danger to yourself than the one who will take it from you and then take your gear and whatever food you have.

Knowledge weighs nothing and useful information cannot come only from a book. One cannot get the useful skills by sitting watching football and figuring out which teams will have the point advantage or getting the highest score on the video games.

The only way is get up off your dead center and move with your family so that you all will have a chance to stay together because government wont do it for you.

I apologize for my lengthy rant for I have the same problems with family to make them see the value of the actions I wish them to do.

Great bit mr. Senior Gramps! It really is a tragic shame that folks don’t realize the fine timeline when knowledge and being prepared make all the difference between comfort and struggling to surviving or not- life or death. Please listen to this wise man! Some will be ready and thrive, some won’t. IT REALLY IS A SIMPLE CHOICE AND DON’T BE COUNTING ON ANYONE TO BE CARRYING YOUR ASS. Learn and practice! Its simple but not easy… OH! And it IS a matter of life and death! Have a great day!

I totally agree with you. I am a Grandfather myself and have seen how much knowledge that is being lost because the younger generation, as a whole, does not want to learn. I worry greatly about what is coming and know that not only do I have to take care of my wife and I, but how do you say no when your family[ children, grandchildren, cousin, nephews, nieces, and so on ] come begging for a hand out. That does not even include your friends and neighbors. WAKE UP PEOPLE. GOD is not going to allow this world to keep on going the way it is.

Dead-on. Too many play war-games on a video monitors. I suspect that they would be the first to faint if the found a leech on their penis (thinking of you Kanye). Practice, practice, go back and learn more, so that each time you get better at it. Include your family. If you are the only one with the knowledge and get popped, your family is in deep shit.

I totally agree with Grampa. I bet I’m near his age. One thing for sure, when shtf several things will happen. 1st. Most city dwellers (if alive) will sit on their butts and wait on the government to do something. That includes electricity, water and even cable or WiFi! Those who have learned to live and survive on the land which is home and where their fathers and grandfather’s learned and taught their families how to survive. The best thing these farmers can do is protect what they have. Speaking from previous disasters, you’ll have time to ready for this in the event no help ever comes. 2nd.. Those city dwellers once they realize help is not coming, will in effect will try to survive and teach others how to do it too. There will be a lazy sect of people who thinks they’re owed, will use any and all weapons they have to get what they want. 3rd, it’s time to take action at this point. Use any method you have to protect your family and neighbors from these lazy-ass freeloaders.
Prepare, protect and prosper is our goal when shtf folks. Now is the time to learn from grandpa and others like him.

Wise words from a fellow veteran. You deserve a standing salute along with all the heroes who put their ass on the line to keep our nation and others free. Why are we the last to complain and the last to get the service our government agreed to. Our young haven’t a clue about what it is to survive. They think trinkets in an Altoids box will somehow save you. Like any tool it is designed to do one job and do it well. Even the simple hammer can be used as example. A hammer that drives the nail in a shoe for a cobbler couldn’t forge a knife on an anvil. How can you expect that multi tool to perform all the functions with the same efficiency as the tools they replace. Other than a container for a bandage the Altoids handy dandy do all life saver kit is a fools dream of survival. So it may hold matches that work one time but what if you are injured and have use of only one hand. That mirror to signal for help is useless in the rain or if we have a real SHTF who is coming to find you. I live in a large metro area and if we loose power we are going to have a lot of hungry people and if you were scared of zombies they would prove easy. They will be armed and hungry and their reason for survival will be the same as yours. They will move out of the cities in droves and destroy any chance of raising food for the farms will be destroyed. Get a skill that is indispensable to others Knowledge is king. know how to barter and how to set fixed weights for a scale. If you are a mechanic that is a skill needed. and don’t laugh blacksmith. anyone who knows the alternate medicine is a good skill. The only advice I will tell you to do is start. do nothing and be unprepared and you will die. A dollar a day will start you to where you feel you are ready. ether natural or manmade don’t depend on government.

I’M A GRANPA ALSO. I DID IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY. BECAUSE OF WORKING MANY YEARS IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA, I DECIDED TO STAY, BUILD A HOUSE AND LIVE. MY WIFE AND I HAVE A SMALL ALLOWANCE FROM THE SOCIAL SECURITY AND WITH IT WE MANAGE. FOOD IS PLENTIFUL, LABOR IS CHEAP, AND TOGETHER WITH A ROTWEILLER AND A TWELVE GAGE SHOTGUN, WE ARE AT PEACE.
ONCE A YEAR WE GET TO SEE THE KIDS IN THE US ON A VISIT. HOW THEY CAN LIVE THERE I DON’T KNOW. PRICES FOR EVERYTHING ARE WAY OUT OF REACH FOR US. BEING A VETERAN OF TWO WARS ALLOWS ME TO USE THE VET’S HOSPITAL SERVICES BUT ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY. MAYBE IT’LL CHANGE WITH THE COMING GOVERNMENT, BUT MEANWHILE WE’LL KEEP BUSY WHERE WE ARE AND CAN AFFORD TO LIVE.

I really agree with what you have to say sir! I am the younger generation (I’m 14) and I own more tools than my dad and convinced him to buy me a .22 and an SKS. I practice whenever he takes me to the gun store to buy ammo. I set up a shooting range and target practice at the farm. I also am an amateur blacksmith and really enjoy learning to use tools. I also collect antiques and things that use man power not electricity. Than you for sharing you opinion sir!
